Kyla's Choice [Brothers Bound 4] (Siren Publishing Allure) Page 2

“Can’t believe you fucking wrote a complaint!” yelled a man’s voice.

“Maybe you shouldn’t go around pinning girls to the wall and shoving your dick against them!” Kyla’s voice argued back.

Rick sat up at the sound of her voice, at the muffled squeak that escaped her.

“Swear to God, you little bitch, I lose my job over this I’ll shove it somewhere else,” he gritted into her face.

Kyla narrowed her eyes and brought her arms straight up, easily knocking his away. Her fist smacked him in the nose and he howled, staggering back.

Rick scrambled out of his truck, his heart hammering. That must be the fucker that was bothering her.

Kyla stepped away from Hank, heart pounding. She had actually punched Hank in the nose. Oh and crap he looked right ready to kill. Fear tore through her. She turned to dart, not sure where to but anywhere would be good right now.

He reached out, grabbing her coat, hauling her down to the gravel. “Hit me!” he yelled, fist coming up, catching her on the jaw.

Kyla screamed out at the impact, falling back, stunned. Her legs kicked and her fists flew. She scrambled to get out of his grasp. Her heart raced as she heard clothes rip. She screamed as loud as she could. Her brain screamed out. Her mom had told her scream as loud as she could in this scenario.

His dirty hand clamped over her mouth and she felt him against her naked ass. She shook her head as tears sprang to her eyes. She screamed against his hand, tasting the salty sweat of his palms. Her hands clawed at his forearms, trying to get free of him. She heard his zipper go down.

She screamed harder, legs scrambling beneath her. This wasn’t happening! She clawed at the rocks, trying to crawl away from him. No way was this fucking happening! She wouldn’t allow it.

Rick growled before he grabbed Hank up and slammed him into the brick building, his fist slamming into his face. He said nothing. Just pounded his face till Hank fell limp. He tossed him to the ground and went to Kyla. She lay on her side, curled up crying. He fell to his knees and pulled her into his lap. “Kyla sugar,” he whispered.

She scrambled away from him, eyes full of tears and fear, and shook her head. He reached out to her. She cried out and scrambled to her feet.

“Kyla, you can’t just go! You have to go back in and let your boss know,” he called, rushing after her.

Kyla pulled her pants up, tears blinding her. The fucker had ripped her pants and they wouldn’t go up. She stumbled and fell to her knees with a strangled cry.

Rick hugged himself around her and she broke down in wracking sobs.

The big steel doors behind them opened and three more workers came out, stopping at the sight of Hank, eyes darting about. Mel rushed forward. “Oh God, Kyla.” She rushed and fell to her knees.

Rick held up a hand. “You need to go get Mr. Paulson. Tell him he needs to call the authorities.” Mel nodded and rushed back into the building.

Kyla calmed, soft cries mixing with hiccups. It tugged at Rick’s heart. “You’re okay, Kyla. I got you,” he whispered, hugging her close.

Kyla shook her head. “I don’t want you here,” she whispered. She wiped the tears from her face with her dirty coat. She tried to get out of his grasp.

  “Kyla, stop please.”

She pushed him away. “Get away from me!” she yelled.

Rick slumped back. This couldn’t be happening. Mel returned with Mr. Paulson, the owner of the welding shop, right behind her, a thick gray wool blanket draped in his arms. They rushed to Kyla.

Kyla ambled to her feet. “I’m fine,” she mumbled, shoving Mel away. Rick stood.

Mr. Paulson wrapped a blanket around Kyla. “I need you to come in, Kyla. The police are coming.” He glanced at Rick. He knew Rick and knew he was security at that kink club in town. “You make sure Hank doesn’t get away, Mr. Keepher?” Rick nodded.

Mel looked at Rick. She knew he had stopped Hank from hurting Kyla worse than he already had.

Kyla looked back at Rick. “Don’t you dare tell my mom.” She growled. The last thing she needed was her mom worrying.

It was near eight by the time Kyla was let go, Mel by her side. Rick was still in the parking lot. Mel took Kyla’s keys from her. “I’ll drive, Ky,” she murmured.

Kyla nodded, mind a blank. She wanted to go home. Shower, she needed to shower. Sleep. Six would come early. She fisted her palms and blinked her eyes rapidly to stop the tears. She wouldn’t think about it. She was safe. She had to go home, make some supper, shower. She really needed to shower. Sleep, sleep was a good thing. She would feel better in the morning.

Rick watched them as they walked toward the car. He grimaced. She looked lost. He rounded the car. “Kyla.” He looked her over, thumb caressing her jaw.

  “I’m tired, Rick,” she whispered.

Rick clenched his jaw. She wasn’t looking him in the eyes. He didn’t like that at all. “Look at me, Kyla,” he ordered. Her eyes darted to his and teared up. He hugged her close. “Come on. I’ll take you home. Not going to let you be alone,” he ordered. He looked at Mel. “She won’t be in tomorrow. Let Paulson know that.” Mel nodded, watching as he led Kyla to his truck.

Kyla rested her head against the window of the truck as he drove away. The city passed by in a haze. Soon trees came into sight. By the time they made it to his place the light of the sky was disappearing and total darkness enveloped the sky.

She followed him into his place. “Here.” He took her lunch box from her. She frowned. She hadn’t realized she still had it. He slipped her ripped coat from her, threw it on the floor, and helped her with her boots. She went straight to the couch and plopped back. She stared out the window.

Rick furrowed his brows. She was in shock. He knelt down in front of her. “I’m just going to run you a bath.” Her eyes met his for a moment and the biggest tears fell. Rick reached out and she flinched away from his touch. That hurt.

Kyla looked down at her dirty hands. Blood crusted around her fingernails, and they stung. She swallowed the lump in her throat. She rubbed her jaw and winced. More tears fell. She looked at her pants and anger struck her. The fucker had wrecked her favorite pair of work pants! Rick had bought these for her on their first welding trip. She sobbed. He was going to be mad. He always told her to take care of her gear. She needed good welder’s pants, boots. She looked around. What the hell was she doing out here? How the hell had she gotten out here? She stood.

  “Kyla…?”

She spun around, her pants loosening. She grabbed them before they slipped over her slender hips.

“Your bath is ready. I’m just going to grab you some clean clothes.”

Kyla nodded. “I broke my pants,” she said, wincing.

Rick crossed to her, hugging her close. “I’ll buy you some new ones, don’t worry about it, sugar,” he whispered.

She shook her head. “I have more. My good luck ones,” she whispered, her head coming to rest against his broad chest. These were her favorite set. These were the first gift she had ever gotten from Rick. Tears welled in her eyes.

Rick rubbed her back, easing the hair tie from her hair, working out the braid. “We’ll go get a new pair of good luck ones… I’m in need of a new pair, too,” he whispered, leading her to the bathroom. “Come on, sweet stuff. Get this grit off you. You’ll feel better after a long soak and some food. Hey did you know I know how to cook?”

Kyla looked at him. “You know how to cook?”

He grinned and nodded. “Yeah… Paula taught me.” He scrunched up his face. He couldn’t believe he just said that and gave credit to that harpy of a woman. He smiled. Okay she wasn’t that bad. She was horrible when she showed up at his house and lectured him on cleanliness and women and damn she had gone on for hours then gave him a cooking lesson, and then ever so nicely informed him that he would free up at least one night a week for more cooking lessons at his house of course. That way she could always check on his cleaning skills.

It made Kyla smile and made
her forget what had happened. “Paula’s pushy,” she replied, stepping into the bathroom, unsure of what to do.

Rick swallowed nervously. He’d never had to deal with a woman who had been nearly raped. Should he undress her? Would she get scared? Did she feel safe enough to let him help her? Kyla crossed her arms over her chest and hugged herself. Rick understood that move. “I’ll go get you some clean clothes. I think Keena has some upstairs.”

Kyla nodded. Keena’s clothes would fit. They were about the same size.

When Rick returned from George’s flat, his phone was ringing. “Hey,” he answered.

“What the fuck happened!” demanded Ty in a strained voice.

Rick raised a brow. “How the hell did you even find out?”

“Mel told me, said you took her home. She ain’t home! Where is my sister?”

Rick released a breath. “She’s over here. I didn’t think she should be alone.”

Ty scoffed. “Bring my sister to my house then!”

Rick narrowed his eyes. “Ty… Your sister is not in a good place right now. The last thing she needs is two more men coddling her.”

Ty growled. “She’s my sister!” he yelled.

Rick held the phone away, giving his head a shake. “Yes and I was there and saw what the bastard nearly did. I can help her through this.”

  Ty grunted.

Rick could hear Kyle in the background, and then muffled whispering. “Ty, look. I have her in the tub. I need to make her some food and I’ll get her to call you when she’s feeling like she can talk.”

Ty grunted. He didn’t like that answer. “Fine, Mom will be out there shortly anyway.”

Rick froze at that. “What?” The last thing Kyla wanted was her mom knowing.

Ty grunted. “You think I wouldn’t call Mom and let her know?”

Rick sighed “The last thing Kyla needs is more people knowing. Leave it alone for now, Ty. She will tell your mother when she is ready to.”

“Don’t think you can tell me what to do when it comes to Kyla!”

“Not telling you anything, Ty. Advising you. Kyla specifically asked that I not tell her mom. She doesn’t want her to worry.”

Ty grunted. Kyla was right. Mom would worry. “Fine, Kyle and I will come out there!”

“No you won’t. You’ll let me get her comfortable and I’ll get her to call when she has calmed and come to terms… Right now she’s in shock.”

Ty released a shaky breath. “Is she okay?” He needed to know his sister was okay. He should have gone to her work instead of going for beers with the guys. He had made the plan to go and be at her work. At least for a few days until he knew she was safe.

Rick relaxed. “For what happened… I suppose. Shook up. She’s at the pissed-off stage I think, mad that her pants were broke.”

“He ripped her pants!” Ty choked out.

Rick could hear Kyle trying to calm him down. “Tyson, you need to relax. Kyla’s safe. I wanted to bring her out here just to escape it all. No noise, all quiet. She can yell and cry and just be and take the time she needs to come to terms. I will be calling Jared and filling him in so he can tell Lila.”

Ty cursed and handed the phone to Kyle. “Rick?”

“Kyle, can you calm him down please. Kyla is safe here. Hank was apprehended and charges were laid.”

“All right then, I’ll keep this end calm. Take care of her,” he ordered.

Rick smiled. “I will. I’ll call back in a bit with an update. I hear sleep is a huge part of recovery.”

  Chapter Three

Kyla hugged the blanket close, head on Rick’s shoulder. She stared at the TV, watched as the sniper took out his targets. She closed her eyes. “I can go home now. I feel better,” she whispered.

Rick shook his head. “Nope, told Jared I was keeping you for the night.”

Kyla looked up at him. Of course he did. “Yeah… I suppose you have to play that uncle role.” She pulled away from him. It stung to even say the words. She felt guilty immediately. She shouldn’t have said that to him. He’d done nothing but help her.

“Far from being your uncle, sugar,” he replied calmly. He needed to make that very clear to her. In no way was he her uncle!

Kyla rolled her eyes, hugging the blanket and standing. “Where do I sleep? I’m tired. Have to get to work in the morning,” she grumbled.

Rick shook his head. “You’re not going to work, last door on the left,” he replied calmly.

Kyla frowned. What did he mean she wasn’t going to work! “Pardon me?” she exclaimed.

Rick looked at her. “You went through a lot today. You’re not going to work tomorrow,” he repeated just as calmly as before. If he had the power she wouldn’t be going in for the rest of the week.

Kyla narrowed her eyes. “No you will be getting up and taking me to work,” she demanded, eyebrows furrowing. “Actually you can get up right now and take me home! I don’t have to stay here,” she replied rather haughtily, unwrapping herself from the blanket and tossing it at him.

Rick caught it up and watched her go to the door, slip her work boots on, and grab her coat.

  “Well!” she uttered.

Rick raised his eyebrows and stared right back. She wouldn’t dare step out of his house. He was sure of it. She was just angry and wanted to fight. He couldn’t blame her. If this was part of her dealing with what happened he was here for her.

Kyla glared at him. She reached in her pocket for her cell phone, grunting when she couldn’t find it. Rick smirked. She glared at him. “Where is my phone?”

Rick shrugged his shoulders. “Don’t know, maybe it fell out when Hank was trying to fuck your sweet little ass,” he replied dryly, daring her to get angry and argue with him. He was sure this anger part hadn’t played out as far as it should have. He would push it if necessary.

Kyla glared at him. She couldn’t believe he had just said that to her. She narrowed her eyes and stared at him, nostrils flaring. Well fuck him! She turned on her heel and opened the door and walked out, slamming the door behind her.

Rick raised an eyebrow. Kay she wasn’t supposed to walk out on him. What the fuck? He jumped up and pulled his boots on. When he opened the door and saw snow flying, he reached back for his coat. He caught up to her halfway down the drive. Damn she walked fast. “Kyla, stop being silly. It’s cold, you’re not dressed for this weather, and its twenty miles to town!” he yelled at her back.

Her hand went up and he assumed that was her middle finger she was flashing at him. He smiled. That was funny. She spent entirely too much time with that Mel girl. He caught up and walked in step with her. “Okay then I could use some cardio. I’m guessing your toes will give out before anything…” He looked at her ears. Her hair was steaming, still wet. “Or your ears… You’re going to catch a cold.”

Kyla ignored him, fuming under her breath. Why the hell was he babying her now! He never babied her before. She stopped and looked at him. “You had sex with two women at the same time!” It wasn’t a question or a statement, more of a revelation.

Rick raised a brow. “Those two from last night…? No… I was teaching a private lesson. Monica has lost her sex drive. Becca needed pointers on how to get her off,” he answered honestly. “And having sex with two separate women when I have only one dick is a slight impossibility,” he clarified. Of course he could pleasure two women at the same time. He liked the challenge actually.

Kyla stared at him, jaw falling open. He was giving lessons? Was he fucking mocking her because she didn’t know shit about sex?

Rick smiled. “I teach people how to get off. Couples having sexual issues. They come to my house. The women the other night, they are friends of mine.”

Kyla narrowed her eyes. “Do you have sex with them?”

Rick frowned. Was she asking about Monica and Becca or all of them?

“The women!” Kyla barked when she saw the questioning look in his eyes.

  Rick smiled, shaking
his head. “No, they are strictly in a closed relationship. Hence why I had pants on,” he reminded her.

Kyla thought back. He did have pants on, didn’t he? She crossed her arms over her chest. “You do this all the time?” she asked, foot tapping in the snow-packed wheel prints.

Rick rubbed his hands together to keep them warm. Of course if all his blood would stop rushing to his dick he would probably have a better chance. “I have clients, yes. My nights vary, depends on how my clients are feeling. Hard to make them get the other off if neither is in the mood. If one is, I’ll attempt.”

Kyla frowned. “Seriously, you help people have sex?”

Rick smiled. “Basically yes, and it’s more of a find pleasure in their bodies. I show them and let them know their bodies are beautiful. That they can enjoy their bodies. Have fun. Let loose. Where to touch, how to touch. You know, stuff like that,” he offered.

Kyla let her hands slide to her sides. “Have you ever worked with just like single women?” she blushed. “Who can’t…you know.”

Rick smiled. “Yes, I have had a few who are single looking to get themselves off. Those ones are tricky. They actually try to get me to join in.”

Kyla harrumphed, shivering. It was cold. Now she would have to go back to his place. She grunted, turning on her heel, and headed back to the house.

Rick walked in the other wheel track next to her. “I really think you should take tomorrow off… You have only hit a few stages of grief. And the whole healing part will take longer, but will be less painless if you have someone to talk to, to help you.”

Kyla raised a brow and glanced at him. “Are you trying to play shrink?” she grumbled.

Rick shook his head. “Hoping friend,” he replied, shoving his hands in his coat pockets.

Kyla grunted. “Then you should have let Mel take me and baby me. I would have ice cream, hot chocolate, a hot tub with bubbles where I didn’t have to look at myself.” She growled.

Rick nodded. “Yeah but seeing yourself naked made you face what happened. What could have happened?”

Kyla snorted. “Someone would have come.”
